We've done lots of different types of painting, but one I've had pinned for ages from The Chocolate Muffin Tree, but not had the chance to do yet is Styrofoam Printing so when Hubby brought some Styrofoam packaging home the other day I thought we'd give it a go...
First we drew on the Styrofoam, we just used regular a Biro but you could use a blunt pencil, anything that will make a mark on the Styrofoam but not sharp enough to go through it. Champ just enjoyed making scribbles.
Then we painted over the Styrofoam We had tried to use a roller, but it didn't really work there was too much paint residue, but a light coating with a paintbrush worked really well.
Next we turned the Styrofoam over so the painted side rests on the paper then we pressed down hard so the paint transferred onto the paper.
This is what the finished results looked like. This is one that I did, where I'd marked the Styrofoam there's no paint so you end up with a pattern on the paper that matches the Styrofoam. I don't have a picture of Champ's printing as he liked to print them on the same paper over and over so there was no pattern to see in the end!
This is a recap of how we did it, so simple - Draw, Paint, Print. It really couldn't be easier and is a good way to reuse any Styrofoam packaging.

I love your prints! We have not done it in ages either. I may just have to set up a printing station soon. Thanks for the fun reminder.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tammy it was super easy and fun, plus one for all ages from scribbles to something really pretty
DeleteWhat a wonderful use of styrofoam. I hope you'll consider sharing this at Look What We Did, a month long link up hosted on HammockTracks. -Savannah @ HammockTracks
ReplyDeleteThis is a fresh idea to me. I have done hand painting and other of its kind but this method of Styrofoam printing makes me excited to try it.
