I like cooking with the kids, but my favourite type of cooking with them doesn't involve the oven or hob as our kitchen is small and the boys are into everything so no bake cooking is always far less stressful for me! I came across the idea for these Easter chicks at Living Locurto and thought I'd make them a nest to go in. Here's what I did....
The chicks are made out of marshmallows with an orange button for the beak. I also tried out orange and lemon sugar slices, they worked OK but were a bit too squishy to push into the marshmallow.
Then I used a food pen (bought at Hobbycraft) to add the eyes and wings.
But, I also tested out making the chicks with icing writing pens which also worked.
Then I placed a Jaffa cake into a cup cake case as the base of the nest, but any old smaller biscuit such as an Oreo would do.
Then I crushed three mini shredded wheats in a small bowl (any cereal would do), then added brown coloured icing sugar and mixed.
I spooned the mixture on top of the biscuit to create the nest.
Then added the chick to complete our Easter cooking craft. Plus it tasted yummy!
