When Hubby was given some food to take home from work it came in two Styrofoam boxes so I took the opportunity to use them for some fun Styrofoam modelling play inspired by a post I saw on The Chocolate Muffin Tree. Here's how we got on...
This is how I set it up the Styrofoam modelling for Champ. I provided him with pieces of the boxes cut up with cocktail sticks, skewers, scissors, a pen and straws and then let him create as he liked. I supervised him throughout as he hasn't quite mastered the skill of poking skewers DOWN into things instead of UP!
He soon got stuck in and started threading the Styrofoam pieces onto the skewers.
He also cut up the straws and threaded them onto the skewers. This made all became a robot which he played with for ages.
While Champ was keeping busy his younger brother wanted to join in, but at 17mths I decided he was a bit young for playing with skewers, so instead he drew on the Styrofoam pieces. He really enjoyed this, made some lovely scribbles and enjoyed poking the pen through the Styrofoam.
I hope you've enjoyed today's post, if you're looking for more Styrofoam ideas then you can check out our Styrofoam Pinterest board.
What fun! We'll be trying this for sure!
