I saw Growing a Jeweled Roses' Summer Snow the other day and knew we had to test it out. All you need to create your own snow is shaving foam and a freezer, I also hid a few toys in ours. This is how we got on...
I didn't freeze that much shaving foam I just used four small pots worth and hid a small toy in each. But, as it defrosted there was plenty to play with.
I gave the boys the pots on a tray and put a tarpaulin underneath, it gets messy. But, not nearly as messy as the first time we played with shaving foam or when we did shaving foam printing.
All three boys got stuck in straight away, Little Dude did try and eat a bit, but the soapy taste clearly put him off as he didn't try it again!
To start with they crumbled the frozen foam to find the toys hidden inside.
Then as it melted it started to get a bit messier.
Then we did a bit of writing in the shaving foam and it moved from snow like to cream.
When they started to take their socks off and put they're feet in it I initially went with it, then when they started to try to 'skate' I decided to call it a day!
I hope you enjoyed today's post, if you're up for some messy, sensory play this was a lot of fun! For more fun ideas why not check out our Facebook page or our Pinterest boards.
Fun! We made our homemade snow using cornflour as well. Was so much fun
ReplyDeleteThe boys did enjoy themselves, cornflour sounds great must have been a brilliant texture
