Welcome to the Outdoor Play Party, if you've been playing outside this week please join up below. Recently we did some outdoor 'boing' painting, this was originally inspired by some Yo Yo Painting from Irresistible Ideas for Play Based Learning and I've also seen similar recently at Toddler Approved when they did Splat Painting.
The basic idea is to put something heavy in tights (pantyhose), we used Plasticine dab it in paint and 'boing' it up and down onto paper. Here's how we got on....
First up Bud had a go, perfecting the technique of dipping the heavy end of the tights into the paint.
To start with they both tentatively 'boinged' the tights a little, but mostly just dropped them onto the paper.
This made fun paint effects on the paper, but this was definetely more about process than product as when we were done I threw the paper away, but it did help the boys see the effects of their work.
They soon built up their enthusiasm and started throwing the tights up in the air then splatting them down on the paper.
Or in Champ's case just throwing it down onto the paper!
We love getting outside and painting outdoors is great as you can make as much mess as you like!
If you've been outdoors this week, why not link up below? Linking up gives us permission to feature you on any of the hosting blogs, share on Facebook or pin on Pinterest (Outdoor Play Link Up Ideas).
My favourite post linked up last time was from Let the Children Play, as part of their 'Reggio Inspired' series they shared their Outdoor Environment which is full of great ideas for creating a great outdoor play space.
Oh Hannah that looks like so much fun!! I have that on my to do list but never got round to it yet!

ReplyDeleteHow much fun is this!! I bet my active kiddos would have a blast with this. This would be fun just to do with water too.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, water would be ace and they could boing all over the patio, great idea I think we will have to that in the summer!
