It's been a while since we did some outdoor painting so when the weather turned a bit warmer today I thought we'd try out some cotton ball throwing that I discovered at The Little Bird Studio.
I taped a tarpaulin to the back of a garden chair then taped some large paper onto it.
Then I let the boys dip cotton balls in paint and throw them at the paper, great for burning off some excess energy.
That lasted for a while, then the boys took a more direct route and started painting with the cotton balls directly on to the paper.
Even little hands could do this activity.
I gave this activity a two star rating as despite being outside things did get a bit messy, oh and the paper wasn't the only thing to get paint on them....
We love outdoor play, and love to find new outdoor play ideas. If you've played outside with kids this week why not join our Outdoor Play Party?
Last time we had loads of ideas linked up, this one was my favourite - The Wicked Big Storm from Fireflies and Mudpies. It really made me laugh, so much snow! The fun we could have with that much snow!
What a great idea! I'd definitely do that! .... we still have snow but, this could even be a great Spring birthday party event. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Hannah - I bet your boys would love throwing balloons dipped in paint too - just a suggestion!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you for featuring me!
ReplyDeleteLove outdoor art! It's great when you can combine activity with art!
ReplyDeleteOmg that looks SO much fun, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWell of course they didn't keep to just throwing cotton balls! The lovely thing about this activity in the garden is being able to allow them to create the next stage themselves, even if they do end up with painted feet! Lovely post and thank you for sharing on Country Kids, I have linked back to the Outdoor Play Party too.
ReplyDeletethis looks like a lot of fun and something to try with my boys soon x
ReplyDeleteOh, My Little Guy would LOVE this activity! We will most definitely do this on our next nice day! Thank you for sharing with us over at Share It Saturday! I'm not sure I knew you had a link party!! Linking up some posts now :)

So fun!! I love this way of painting. We will have to give it a try when we do not have snow on the ground and the paint won't freeze. Thank you for sharing at Sharing Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine my grandson loving this craft idea. He loves balls, he loves painting, he loves doing new and different things and he loves making a mess.
