3 ways to play: Cotton Balls & Muffin Tin

3 ways to play with cotton balls

I recently baked some cotton balls like we did here, which makes them hard on the outside and soft in the centre, perfect for some muffin tin fun.  We played with them in a couple of different ways suitable for the boys different capabilities.

1 - Cotton Balls and Tongs

All I did for this simple play was leave the cotton balls in a bowl with a pair of tongs.  This was perfect for our youngest son (17mths) who is just starting to use the tongs and enjoyed trying to pick them up.

After awhile his brother decided to join in!

2 - Cotton Ball Colour Match
The next time I wrote out the different colour names and popped them into the muffin tin.  I then asked Champ if he could match the colours to the writing and he enjoyed picking them up with the tongs and sorting them.

3 - Counting Cotton Balls
The final way we played was to write out this time the numbers 1 to 4 and then get the boys to count them out.

This time even Bud wanted a go, a little too easy for him, but he enjoyed himself and using tongs was something I hadn't done with him for ages.
