Outdoor Play in the Dark

We love outdoor play and with the winter days being very short means that we've had the opportunity for some outdoor play in the dark.

We got to build a fire.  With some success, turns out we should have perhaps emptied the fire pit of boggy leaves before trying to build a fire - opps!

We got out the torches, always a big hit.

Then, time for some unexpected fireworks!

We had an awesome time outside and the dark added an extra bit of excitement and was a great family time.

I hope you've enjoyed this post check out Facebook and Pinterest for more play ideas.

  1. Boys (even grown ones) love campfires don't they. I did a post here with a night hike printable if you'd like it for your next night fun. It's for Florida but you could make it a lesson in night animal differences maybe? Thanks for sharing.

    1. I know, one of the few advantages of it being pitch black by 4.30pm, that and the fact I can novice the boys to go to bed early!
