Ok, it's November, it's time to get Christmassy!! What better way to start the season that with a Blog Hop!
I'm delighted to co-host the Counting down to Christmas blog hop alongside Rainy Day Mum, Mummy..Mummy..MUM!, Life At The Zoo, Here Come the Girls The Fairy and The Frog, Jennifer's Little World, Playful Learners and TheBoyandMe. Counting down to Christmas will be taking place over eight weeks running up to Christmas with a different theme each week, and week one is advent, so if you have any advent crafts please link them up below.
Previously we've just had the cheapy chocolate advent calendars, but this year I thought we'd try something different. Inspired by Johnny in a dress' felt Christmas tree and Heart felt wall hangings magnetic Christmas countdown I decided to combine both ideas and make a magnetic advent christmas tree.
I started by taping a Chrsitmas tree shape onto a large metal board that we use for magnet play sometimes, ours is from IKEA (Spontan).
Next we (thanks friend S) cut out some clip art baubles that I put numbers 1-24 on. Then we laminated them, cut them out again then hot glued on some magnets.
This is finished product! The photo doesn't give you an idea of size as it's pretty big (about 60cm), I'm hoping that as the days progress and the boys build up their stash of baubles they'll enjoy playing with this and regularly decorate and re-decorate the tree.
And, a close up. The star is for Christmas day. This was one evenings work in front of the TV, a nice chilled way to start the Christmas season!
How are you counting down to Christmas? Want to share? Link up below.

DeleteThat's a really good idea. Keep hearing about this "hot glue" but never seen any,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I have a glue gun and it melts the glue making it hot and a lot stronger than white glue. Not sure hot glue is its proper name though, hope that helps
DeleteVery fun idea! Thanks for sharing at Mom's Library.
