In the UK on 5th November we celebrate Guy Fawkes night, or Bonfire night. This is a celebration of the discovery and interception of a plan to blow up Parliament (read more here) which is comemorated with a great big bonfire and a fireworks display - hence our fireworks painting!
The idea for this came from Juggling with kids who did the same craft for 4th of July. They cleverly designed a pipecleaner stamp to create fireworks. Here's how we made ours...
First, I folded the pipe cleaners in half, then twisted the top half round to create a brush handle then splayed out the pipe cleaners to create the stamp.
Then, the boys got stuck in with the stamping.
Then they added a bit of swishing, which they enjoyed, but kind of ruined the fireworks effect!
Then we added a sprinkling of glitter to make it a bit more fireworks like!
This is Bud's.
Then this is mine, to prove it does work! Unfortunately my boys are NEVER interested in the end product, they just like to get mucky with paint (sigh!). But, theirs did look like this before they started 'swishing' and spinning the stamps!
Or, if you blog and have your own painting posts why not join the October Paint Blog Hop which I'm co-hosting with Blogging with Kids, Rainy Day Mum, Making Boys Men, 3 Dinosaurs, The Usual Mayhem, Inspiration Laboratories and Fun A Day. It's open for another 15 days so make sure you pop back and link up your great painting ideas!
